Beginning in July 2014, Krav Maga Santa Cruz and CrossFit Amundson will be teaming to create a “Four Phased Training Progression” for our Krav Maga program. Based on a program developed by Greg Amundson during his service with the United States Army 223 Infantry Regiment at the United States Army Officer Candidate School called “Krav-Fit”, the Phased Progression will allow Athletes to progress through four grades of rank in a combined Krav Maga and CrossFit program. Phase A begins the first week of July 2014. If you are NOT a current CrossFit Amundson and Krav Maga Santa Cruz member, you must first enroll into CrossFit Amundson and successfully complete at least one month of dedicated CrossFit  training. September 2013

September will be a very exciting and challenging month at Krav Maga Santa Cruz! We are honored to welcome Amber Campion and her practice of Yogaeira to our studio. Amber will be teaching Yogaeira on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8:30 AM until 10:00 AM and on Sunday evenings from 4:30 to 6:00 PM. Due to the demand of Krav Maga training in Santa Cruz County, we have opened up our Monday and Wednesday Krav Maga Classes to the public on a case by case basis. Enrollment normally requires at least three months of training in CrossFit at CrossFit Amundson to ensure adequate levels of physical conditioning have been achieved. Our Law Enforcement Seminars and training continue by reservation from the Defensive Tactics Coordinator at the respective Law Enforcement Agency.

Congratulations to members of the Santa Cruz County Sheriffs Office who completed the rigorous Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) Four Series Evaluation Test. These grueling Evolutions, include a pool session as pictured above, tested the mental, physical and spiritual strength of the SWAT Applicants.

Krav Maga Santa Cruz has a brand new training center! Although we are still affiliated with CrossFit Amundson, our new and completely private training center is now located at 3603 Portola Drive in Santa Cruz, CA. This is the same shopping center where CrossFit Amundson is located. To celebrate our grand opening on July 2, 2013, we had two guest instructors visit our school. Jeff Martone, the founder of the CrossFit Kettlebell Trainer Course and George Ryan, the founder of the CrossFit Striking Course, co-taught a Seminar in honor of our new school location. Greg Amundson – Army Officer Candidate School Graduation Address -19AUG2006

On behalf of CrossFit Amundson, a very special thank you and salute to all of our brothers and sisters who have served our Country in the Armed Forces. This year marks Greg Amundson’s final year of service in the US Army. Greg served as a Platoon Leader in the US Army 649th Military Police Company and as a Platoon Trainer and Instructor of Combatives, Leadership and Fitness (US Army TAC Officer) at the California Military Academy and 223rd Infantry Regiment. Greg will finish his career as a Captain and recipient of the US Army Commendation Medal for successfully training over 100 Officer Candidates and US Army Lieutenants during his service at the California Army National Guard Officer Candidate School in Camp San Luis Obispo, California.
